According to the monthly report of external trade published by the National Customs Service, the Chilean exports of salmon and trout totalized US$ 2,849.3 million in 2012, representing a 2.2 percent decrease compared to the previous year, when the industry had returns of US$ 2,913.5 million.

Those returns from salmon exports (Atlantic and Coho) have recorded a 6 percent increase in 2012, explained because of the strong rise (+34%) of the exported volume (around 87,000 extra tonnes).

By contrast, the rainbow trout exports experienced a 16 percent decrease in 2012, explained because the slightly higher exported volume (around 11,000 extra tonnes) could not offset the strong decrease experienced in the average declared price (-23%).
