
Slight decrease in Chilean harvests of salmonids
The Chilean harvests of salmonids totalized 375,661 tonnes in the first six months of this year, representing a 1.6 per cent decrease compared to the same period of 2013 (381,687 tonnes) according to preliminary figures submitted by the Chilean Under-Secretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca).
A comparison of results itemized by species shows a 12 per cent increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 239,854 tonnes to 268,743 tonnes; a 18.1 per cent decrease in the Rainbow trout harvests to 62,327 tonnes; a 31.1 percent decrease in the Coho salmon harvests to 44,591 tonnes; and a 100 percent decrease in the King salmon harvests down to zero tonne.
