This would be the first experience of this kind in the area, farming salmon in deep and oceanic waters with special technologies and conditions that might avoid disease outbreaks due to strong sea currents and antibacterial properties from the cooper cages that will be used.

According to Diario Financiero, Acuícola Tripanko presented this week two from several projects of farming sites gathered in one sanitary area (neighbourhood) that totalize an initial investment close to USD 30 million and mainly financed by Norwegian banks.

The CEO of Acuícola Tripanko, Omar Güenul, explained that this project aims to utilize 1,300 hectares in the area of Punta Olleta, nearby Quellón. “This is a huge stake, because its infrastructure differs from the conventional, being the only way to avoid the sanitary problems that affect this industry and it’s a project completely viable from the technical, environmental and financial points of view” he concluded.
