Producer hands out £500K
Successful applicants in recent months have included Oban Sailing Club in Argyll, Orkney Island Games Association, Scalloway Gala in Shetland, St Michael’s Cricket Club in Dumfries, and Coigach Community Hall in Auchiltibuie, Ross-shire. These recipients join over 130 other groups and thousands of individuals that have benefited from the Trust since its inception.
Jim Gallagher, Managing Director of Scottish Sea Farms, commented: “This milestone of £500,000 comes in the same month as we were voted Best Aquaculture Company 2015 at a national Awards ceremony, so it is obviously a really positive time for the business and the communities in which we operate.
“We are genuinely delighted to be able to help so many groups that have approached us for assistance. There is a really diverse mix of projects and charities coming forward and we know that the Heart of the Community Trust is delivering lasting change to local communities and allowing them to grow and develop. We want to hear from more groups and charities in need of financial support in the year ahead and would urge them to look at our website for details of how to apply.”
The broad aim of the Trust is to support community projects that will deliver lasting change to local communities and allow them to grow and develop. Awards may be granted to fund projects in the areas of health and health promotion, education and life-long learning, personal development and various community projects that bring long term benefits. Full details of how to apply can be found on the Scottish Sea Farms website.
