M&S Farming for the Future bursary for Scottish Sea Farms apprentice

Published Modified

The M&S bursary is part of the retailer’s Farming for The Future scheme and will allow Cameron to study the process of farming Lochmuir™ Salmon from hatchery to final packaging.  He will also visit an M&S store to witness the end result of the award winning Lochmuir™ Salmon products being displayed and sold to consumers.

Cameron, originally from Lochcarron, re-located to Shetland in June 2013 and is based at the Scottish Sea Farms site at Mangaster.  He has already completed his apprenticeship in Aquaculture Level 2 & 3 and has been mentored by Scottish Sea Farms Manager Chris Kelly.

Cameron was delighted with the news and said: “This support from M&S will really help me as I further my experience and education in fish farming.  Shetland has been a great place to learn as I have been surrounded by experienced and motivated people who have encouraged me along the way.  Ideally, I would like to study Aquaculture at University and I am currently looking to apply to Stirling next year.”
