Food producers finalists revealed

It includes several salmon industry companies, who will be hoping to win one of the coveted Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards at the finals at Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow, on May 7.

Through to the finals in the Retail – Fish and Seafood category are Salar Smokehouse in South Uist for it flaky smoked salmon; and Scottish Seafarms, Stirling, for its Lochmuir salmon.

In the Food Service category, one salmon Caithness Smokehouse, Barrock, made it through with its hot and cold smoked salmon, and will be competing against two other businesses.

Three of the 16 categories have still to be judged and shortlists declared – profiting through skills, international business of the year and success through working partnerships. There are two supreme awards – product of the year and business of the year.

The competition is organised by the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland and Scotland Food and Drink.
