Salmon farmer Bakkafrost Scotland has achieved Aquaculture Stewardship Council certification of all its 31 active farm sites, completing full ASC certification for the Bakkafrost Group, it has announced.

“The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is the world’s leading certification for responsibly farmed seafood. It sets standards on environmental care, fish welfare, community engagement, and traceability, giving customers and end consumers added confidence that our salmon is produced to independently audited standards for responsible farming,” Bakkafrost Scotland said in a social media post.

The company added that the achievement reflects its long‑term commitment to:

  • Responsible farming and the highest environmental standards
  • Transparency and continuous improvement across every part of its operations
  • Healthy, robust, high‑quality Scottish salmon raised with care
  • Strong relationships with coastal communities where its employees live and work

“Reaching 100% ASC certification is the result of years of dedication from teams across Bakkafrost Scotland and the wider Bakkafrost Group. This milestone reinforces our continued commitment to high standards and responsible salmon farming across all our operations.”
