AquaChile’s harvests up 6%

The company expects to harvest 6 per cent more salmonids this year compared to 2014, driven mainly by a 20 per cent increase in its harvest of Atlantic salmon.

According to a report recently published by Chile's largest salmon producer, its total salmonid harvests will reach 114,410 tonnes this year, up from 108,025 tonnes in 2014.

The company expects a 20 per cent increase in its Atlantic salmon harvest - from 58,895 tonnes in 2014, to 70,848 tonnes this year. By contrast, it expects a 23 per cent decrease in rainbow trout harvests, from 25,765 tonnes in 2014 to 19,744 this year.

Finally, it expects its coho harvests to increase 2 per cent - from 23,365 tonnes in 2014, to 23,920 this year.
