Norwegian salmon reached second-highest ever spot price last week

The spot price for Norwegian salmon rose by NOK 5.48/kg last week (week 9) to NOK 122.55/kg, the second highest price ever. The only time it has been higher was in week 17 last year when it was NOK 123.39/kg.

The price is also NOK 37.86 above the same week last year.

The average spot price so far this year is NOK 97.68/kg, against the equivalent of NOK 77.69 at the same time a year ago.

Norway’s salmon export volumes continue to remain below last year. There were 22,720 tonnes (round weight) exported in week 9. That is 7.2% below the same week in 2022.

The average for the last four weeks is 11.3% lower year-on-year, and for the year so far, 211,000 tonnes have been exported, 9.1% less than during the same period last year.
