Called Nortuna, the company will be based at Sintef Fisheries and Aquaculture. Although they have confirmed to kyst.no that they aim to start producing tuna, they have not yet released any details about the species involved.

The founder and CEO of the company is Jan-Helge Dahl, who has previously been involved in tuna farming company Fortuna Mare in Spain, along with his brother Harald Dahl.

Back in March 2014, Jan-Helge outlined big ambitions for farming Atlantic bluefin tuna in Spain. Later the same year, it turned out that their harvest levels were only 10% of what they had envisaged, due to bad weather, which according to Finansavisen resulted in angry investors.

He has previously stated that, according to surveys they have conducted, the price per kilo of bluefin tuna is somewhere between €30-50.

Jan-Helge Dahl told Kyst.no they are not yet fully established in Trondheim but everything should be in place within three to four months, at which time he will be able to provide more details.
