Salmon on the menu for MSPs

Published Modified

The MSPs start their tour at NAFC Marine Centre, where they will meet the aquaculture team. A visit to a Scottish Sea Farms site in the Clift Sound area of the island will follow, where the politicians will observe monitoring and feeding systems from the shore base. Weather permitting, they will then have the opportunity to take a boat trip out to see the pens.

The Scottish salmon farming industry employs 412 people in Shetland – almost 20% of Scottish salmon farming employees. Aquaculture employs over 500 people in Shetland and over 1000 Shetlanders work in jobs that support the industry.
