Salmon industry contributes to low unemployment rates

Christian Pérez According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), the Region of Magallanes registered the lowest unemployment rate in the country during the trimester March-May 2014 with 2.8 per cent. Meanwhile, the Region of Los Lagos recorded the second lowest unemployment rate in the period, with 3.5 per cent. Moreover, Puerto Montt is one of the Chilean cities with the lowest unemployment rate in the period with 3.1 per cent. Likewise, the Region of Aysén registered the third lowest unemployment rate in the country (4.1 per cent) between March and May this year. The average unemployment rate in the country during this period was 6.3 per cent.
