Salmon company nominated for export awards
The company was nominated in the 'Scottish exporter of the year' and 'innovation in export' categories. Framgord's organic salmon will be up against a wide range of other food products such as meats, cheese, dairy, chicken and preserves. In 2005, the company took home both the Scottish and UK exporter of the year awards. Managing director Frank Johnson told local news source Shetland Marine News: "We did not enter last year because we did not have anything really new. "This year we had some new products, such as our organic salmon which has gone really well in the export market and gave us justification to enter." In the last year the company has opened up brand new markets for their organic salmon in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the Far East, the news source reported. "We have pioneered a lot of new territory with organic salmon. We placed it in countries where they had had no organic seafood at all, never mind salmon." Mr Johnson added.
