Sales of Invertec increased 108% in Q1 2011
The local salmon producing company Invertec Pesquera del Mar de Chiloé explained that this significant increase in sales is explained due to higher exported volumes and better prices. This first-quarter, the company experienced a 24.9% increase in volumes, from 1,803 tonnes to 2,252 tonnes. Meanwhile, Invertec exported more value-added products in the period, what explains the improvements in price for the different species.
According to a report forwarded by the company to the Chilean Securities and Insurance Supervisor or SVS, the main markets for Invertec within this first-quarter were North America (47.63%), Asia (24.21%) and Europe (19.10%).
Finally, in the first-quarter Invertec reported harvests of 318 net tonnes of Atlantic salmon; 157 net tonnes of Coho salmon; and 2,083 net tones of Rainbow trout. In comparison, last year the company posted harvests of 528, 777 and 1,624 net tones of each species, respectively.
