The conference - an annual event being held in the UK for the first time - brings together scientists, engineers, technologists, policy makers, managers and educators from around the world. 600 delegates are attending from more than 35 countries, and 85 exhibitors will showcase their goods and services. A series of plenary and keynote talks as well as technical papers will focus on the conference theme - Marine Challenges: Coastline to Deep Sea. The programme covers some of the most important marine and coastal research currently being undertaken around the world, including renewable energy, oceans and climate science, conservation and sustainability, subsea optics, deep-sea exploration, remote sensing, sonar and acoustics. It will be followed on Friday by EurOcean 2007, which is part of the European Commission's consultation on a new maritime policy for the European Union.
