New net-cleaner set for Shetland
Founded by Colin Leask in 2012, the company already has one custom-built vessel - called Aurora - built by Viknaslipen AS in Roervik, and designed by Marin Design in Kolvereid.
"This same partnership will be used for the newbuild, due to the first class workmanship under taken on Aurora," Colin reflects.
Like Aurora the new addition – which is due to be delivered in April – will be specially designed to operate MPI’s ROV net cleaning system.
Aurora is currently on a full time contract with Cooke Aquaculture, cleaning the company’s nets every two weeks in summer and every three weeks in winter, and he hopes the new vessel will also be used by Cooke.
“The company are applying for new sites,” explains Colin, “so, as Cooke grow, we in return look to grow, to service their requirements".
