The National Fisheries Service (Sernapesca) maintains its preventive controls over the salmon farming site "Ballena 3" belonging to Salmones Cupquelan after the detection of a new positive sample to the HPR2 strain of ISA virus. Sernapesca explained that according to the experience in Chile, HPR2 is an ISA virus strain associated with low mortality rates in Atlantic salmon.

Besides, this site remains included in the list of sites positive to ISA, even when there are no clinical signs or mortalities caused by this disease yet.

Even though there are no positive cases to ISA in other cages, Sernapesca has decided -in accordance with the regulations of the Sanitary Programme of Control and Surveillance of ISA, that the company should mandatorily harvest those fish in positive cages under the terms and biosafety procedures set by the standard.
