Atlantics make up for slump in other species

Chile's salmonid harvest volumes totalled 468,530 tonnes in the first seven months of this year, representing a 10 per cent increase compared to the same period of 2013 (425,753 tonnes) according to preliminary figures submitted by the Chilean Under-Secretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca).

A comparison of results itemised by species shows a 25.7 per cent increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests - from 275,204 tonnes to 345,961 tonnes; an 8.1 per cent decrease in rainbow trout harvests, to 77,972 tonnes; a 31.1 per cent decrease in Coho salmon harvests, to 44,597 tonnes; and a 100 per cent decrease in king salmon harvests, down to zero tonne.
