Peru fishing company chief elected as marine ingredients group's president

Marine ingredients organisation IFFO has elected a new president and vice president for the 20626-27 term.

Adriana Giudice, chief executive of Austral Group – one of Peru’s leading producers of fishmeal, fish oil, and frozen fish – will serve as president. With a 1,200-strong team, Austral Group operates four processing plants along the Peruvian coast (Coischo, Chancay, Pisco and Ilo) and a modern fleet of 19 fishing vessels.

“I am very proud to take on the role of president of the IFFO Board as of January 1, 2026,” said Giudice. “I look forward to contributing to IFFO’s vision of leading the responsible development of marine ingredients globally and bringing my expertise from Peru on innovation and sustainability.”

Egil Magne Haugstad, chief executive of Pelagia AS, has been elected vice-president after two years as president.

Norway-headquartered Pelagia has fishmeal and fish oil factories in Norway, England, Scotland, and Ireland. Pelagia is the world’s largest producer of pelagic seafood and Norway’s leading manufacturer of high-quality omega-3 concentrates. Pelagia runs the biggest fleet of vessels collecting category 3 and 2 by-products from the salmon industry.

“It is an honour to continue serving on the IFFO Board following two years as president in 2024 and 2025,” said Haugstad. “IFFO’s role as a global meeting place for the marine ingredients industry continues to grow, and I am committed to supporting its efforts in fostering collaboration and efficiency.”
