Cermaq Canada fish now meets the Global Aquaculture Alliance’s four-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification standard.

“Now that our freshwater hatcheries have been certified, we meet the highest BAP standard,” said Laurie Jensen, Cermaq Canada’s Communications and Corporate Sustainability Manager. "We’re very proud of all our freshwater employees for making this happen.”

"Third-party certifications are important to us because they show we are serious about sustainability and transparency", said Grant Warkentin, Communications Officer with Cermaq Canada.

"They hold us to the highest standards for producing seafood and require us to publish more information than most other food producers in the world. We were the first salmon farm in the world to achieve BAP certification, and we're proud to have finally been able to meet the BAP four-star certification."

All of Cermaq Canada’s hatcheries, harvesting farm sites, and processing plants (including one under contract) are now certified to the BAP standard. Cermaq Canada’s feed supplier EWOS/Cargill is also certified, giving Cermaq Canada salmon four-star certification.
