Two more bail on Brussels
Both Lerøy Seafood Group (LSG) and Cermaq have reported that they will be following HB Grandi’s lead and not participating in this year's Seafood Expo in Brussels because of security concerns.
A press release issued by LSG today explains that they have: “…decided to cancel this year's participation…due to the recent tragic events, and the consequent uncertainty they have caused among its employees, customers and other partners.”
Meanwhile, Intrafish reports that Cermaq will not be travelling to the show either.
However, both Marine Harvest and Seafood Norway have informed kyst.no that they have not changed their plans.
“We have full understanding for the Marine Harvest employees who do not want to go down because of terrorist acts that have occurred there, and we will not force anyone to go there it will be optional for each individual,” says Eivind Nævdal-Bolstad, MH’s communications manager.
And the company intends to follow its original plans for the show, and the event planned for the Tuesday evening will still go ahead.
Seafood Norway are not arranging a seminar for the day before the show as they have done previously, but this was decided before the terrorist attacks occurred.
Trond Davidsen of Seafood Norway told kyst.no that they see no reason not to travel.
“We have had contact with NHO Brussels, who we work with, and we see no reason not to travel.” he said.
Seafood Norway will organize a program for five government MPs from the Conservative Party and the Progress Party on Tuesday and Wednesday, in cooperation with the NHO Brussels and Innovation Norway.
“We are in the planning phase, but cannot reveal any details in advance because of security measures. We will also have several meetings in Brussels with our Scottish sister company,” said Davidsen.
