Seafood stalwart joins GAA
A qualified chef with over 30 years of seafood experience, Berthet represents the UK’s largest independent seafood supplier on sustainability issues and ensures that M&J’s commitment to responsibly sourced seafood is maintained. “Having worked in the fish and seafood foodservice industry in the UK for more than 30 years, I consider it a great privilege to be asked to join the GAA board,” said Berthet. “I look forward to helping with whatever input I can give to further the GAA and its quest to bring all aquaculture into an ecological, ethical, sustainable and sound, certifiable footing for the future benefit of all.” “We are pleased that Mike is joining our board of directors, as his commitment to sustainable aquaculture practices mirror those of GAA,” said GAA Executive Director Wally Stevens. “He is a well-recognized teacher of men and women in the foodservice sector, which is vitally important to GAA, as it is chefs who have such an influential role with informing consumers on the benefits of eating seafood products coming from aquaculture.”
