The spot price of fresh Norwegian salmon fell by NOK 9.62 (£0.72) per kilo last week to NOK 103.77/kg, after previously setting a new record for week 1.

Despite the heavy fall, the week 2 price was still NOK 8.43 above the same week last year, and the highest price ever achieved in the second week of the year.

Norway, the world's biggest salmon producer, exported 24,081 tonnes (round weight) in week 2. This is well up from the first week, but it is still 5.9% below the same week in 2023.

So far this year, 42,933 tonnes have been exported, 17.2% less than a year ago.
