The lack of growth in salmon volumes resulted in very high prices during 2016.

Prices hit three-year high

The export price of Norwegian salmon rose by 7.51% to an average of NOK 78.75 (£7.39) per kilo in the penultimate week of the year, according to the latest figures released by Fish Pool.

Export volumes for week 51 were down 4,424 tonnes compared to week 50 and down by 5,181 tonnes (25%) compared to week 51 last year.

Overall 1,448,370 tonnes of salmon and 92,709 tonnes of trout have been produced in Norway during 2016 – up by 1% and down by 17% respectively compared to the production figures of 2015.
