Sølvtrans wellboat runs aground in Norway
A new vessel owned by the world's biggest wellboat operator, Sølvtrans, has run aground off Klo in Vesterålen, Norway.
Sølvtrans chief executive, Roger Halsebakk, told Vesteraalens Avis newspaper that he did not know why the Ronia Diamond, which was reported to have cost more than NOK 300 million (£27m) and was only officially named in Bergen in September, ran aground.
"The boat has been there several times before, and what made us hit something now, we can't speculate," he said.
According to according Halsebakk, the boat will now go into port at Sortland to get checked for damage, both with divers, as well as getting the boat on the slipway.
"We believe that we are talking about a small hole in a bottom tank. Beyond that, we know nothing," said Halsebakk.
The incident took place at 5am today, and no-one was injured.
