The Norwegian salmon spot price is jumping up

An increase of around four kroner (£0.31 per kilo) last week brought the price to a level that has only been beaten in one week since April. Harvest volumes remain significant.

The spot price of Norwegian salmon rose by NOK 4.07 per kilo in week 43, up to NOK 75.51/kg.

This is a price that is NOK 3.97/kg better than the same week in 2024.

The average price so far this year is NOK 75.81/kg, compared to NOK 94.75/kg at the same time last year.

Export

Norway exported 38,143 tonnes (round weight) of salmon in week 43. This is about the same (down 0.4%) as the week before – which was a week that was only surpassed by four other weeks in terms of volume peak.

The volume is 7.3% more than the same week a year ago.

So far this year, Norway has exported 1.32 million tonnes of salmon (round weight),  15.7% more than in the corresponding period in 2024.

Feed

As of week 40, 1.72 million tonnes of salmon and trout feed have been sold, 9% more than a year ago.

The trend for the last four weeks (weeks 37-40) is 5% up from the same period last year.
