Salmon price continues to fall
For the third week in a row, the spot price of market-influencing Norwegian salmon has fallen. It is now approaching the NOK 60s. The price is the lowest since mid-September last year.
According to Norwegian aquaculture sector statistics provider Akvafakta, the price of salmon fell by NOK 2.04/kg last week (week 21), down to NOK 70.52 (£5.60) per kilo. This is a price that is almost identical to the same week last year (NOK 0.15 lower).
The average spot price so far this year is NOK 82.83/kg compared to NOK 86.08/kg a year ago.
Exports
The export volumes for week 21 have not yet been published, either through Akvafakta or the Seafood Council.
Feed
As of week 17, 573,000 tonnes of salmon and trout feed had been sold in Norway. This is 1% more than at the same time last year.
The trend for the last four weeks (weeks 14 to 17) is 2% up.
Cod
The Seafood Council has not yet published prices and volumes for farmed cod for week 21.
