100,000 tonne quarter for MH

Marine Harvest’s Scottish operations were the company’s poorest regional performers in EBIT/kilo terms in the final quarter of 2016 – although all four main regions fared well thanks to high prices.

MH Scotland harvested 12,000 tonnes at an EBIT/kg of €1.85; MH Chile harvested 7,500 tonnes at an EBIT/kg of €2.60 (although €0.55/kg of this was “related to sale of fixed assets” – probably the sale of its Tepual plant to Cooke Aquaculture); MH Norway harvested 64,000 tonnes at an EBIT/kg of €2.70; while MH Canada topped the table with 9,500 tonnes at an impressive EBIT/kg of €3.30.

The company’s other farming operations (including Ireland and the Faroes) harvested 7,000 tonnes, to bring the total volume for the quarter to 100,000 tonnes.

Operational EBIT for the Group was approximately EUR 257 million (EUR/NOK 9.0327) in Q4 2016 (EUR 90 million in Q4 2015, EUR/NOK 9.3351).  Reported net interest bearing debt (NIBD) was approximately EUR 890 million (EUR/NOK 9.0793) at the end of the quarter.

The complete Q4 2016 report will be released on 15 February.
