Norway salmon spot price held up despite another record export week

Norway set a new record for salmon exports last week, shipping 43,800 tonnes (round weight) abroad and beating the previous record set in mid-August by 245 tonnes.

The volume was 22.3% higher than in the same week in 2025.

Despite the all-time high export volume, the spot price of Norwegian salmon increased last week, albeit by just NOK 0.19 (£0.015) per kilo to NOK 65.94 (£5.18) per kilo.

However, that price is NOK 7.34/kg below what it was in the same week in 2025.

The average spot price so far this year is 75.73 NOK/kg, compared to 76.10 NOK/kg in the corresponding period last year.

So far this year, Norway has exported 1.21 million tonnes (round weight) of salmon, 6.1% more than in the same period last year.

Cod

According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, 377 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod were exported in week 38, which is 36% more than the week before, and 65% more than the same week in 2025.

The export price for farmed cod was NOK 84.73/kg, down NOK 0.07/kg from the previous week, but also NOK 12.21/kg above the same week last year.

So far this year, 11,444 tonnes (round weight) of farmed cod have been exported at an average price of NOK 78.81/kg, up 10.3% by volume and 16.5% in value from the same period last year.
