A question of loyalty

Exhibitors at SEG should be grateful for what the show has achieved for them over the years, according to Craig Anderson, MD of the Scottish Salmon Company, and repay this loyalty by coming to this year’s event, despite security concerns.

Mr Anderson was speaking to Fish Farming Expert prior to the official launch of their Native Hebridean salmon.

“It’s a show of solidarity and camaraderie – not one person in the company said they wouldn’t come to the event.

“It’s been the backbone of the growth of many companies, but many are refusing to come,” he lamented. “I hope it doesn’t damage the expo in the long run.”

On a more positive note, the MD is excited by the prospect of his company’s entry into the shortlist of the inaugural Seafood Excellence Awards – the winners of which are due to be announced this evening.

“It’s the only non-value-added product on the shortlist, so it’s a real feat to be there at all, but it’s also the closest to wild Atlantic salmon that’s available at the show. It’s something different, so – why not? – it could win,” he muses.
