It allows the Dundee-based firm to the Queen’s Award flag at its main office, and use the emblem on marketing materials. The awards are valid for five years.

Award winners are invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace to be held later this year.

Ace Aquatec managing director Nathan Pyne-Carter said the award is specifically for growth and innovation in seal deterrent systems, recognising significant investment in research and development, and benefits to the aquaculture industry from those developments.

In particular, it recognises the importance of innovation for growth in the economy, and reduction in conflicts with farms as a result of cutting edge technology.

The award is a third success for the company, which won the Innovation Award at Aqua Nor in Trondheim in August for its technology which stuns fish before slaughter. Pyne-Carter also won the inaugural Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) award for innovation at the Aquaculture UK event two years ago.

Ace Aquatec, which has worked closely with Scottish Sea Farms, will be among the Scottish companies exhibiting at Seafood Expo Global in Brussels this week, at stand 8-4769.
