Trout boosts brain function in men
The study, published in ‘The Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry' discovered that middle-aged and older men with higher levels of nutrient in their blood were found to have better cognitive function than those with lower amounts.
The research concluded that higher levels of vitamin D can be linked to better memory and faster information processing.
Trout are great source of vitamin D and also provide other essential dietary nutrients such as Omega-3, protein, vitamin A and selenium, making it the ideal option for a healthy and well-balanced diet. Furthermore, trout is lower on calories than many other fish, such as salmon and mackerel.
A spokesman for the British Trout Association said: "Such research backs up the age-old belief that eating fish is good for your brain. People can continue to enjoy this versatile fish with the knowledge and assurance that it benefits your health."
