Scots producers urged to exploit strong euro

The leadership organisation, in partnership with Scottish Development International (SDI) and the Scottish Government, is currently hosting an international conference  encouraging Scottish food and drink producers to develop their selling strategies to incorporate new export networks. A follow-up event, featuring case studies of successful international traders, will take place on Thursday, March 26.The two-day event, which started yesterday in Edinburgh, will examine how smaller firms and non-exporters can explore new markets, as well as how established exporters can exploit emerging arenas. The growing popularity of Scottish seafood, salmon, red meat and whisky, particularly within mainland Europe and emerging markets such as China, the Middle East and Russia, presents the perfect opportunity for Scottish companies, according to Paul McLaughlin, chief executive of Scotland Food and Drink. He said: “Scottish food and drink producers are in the ideal position to capitalise from the current economic climate. New market opportunities are emerging and existing networks are increasing their demand for world-class Scottish produce.
