Salmonid harvests up 9%
Chile's salmonid harvests totalled 665,669 tonnes in the first ten months of the year, representing a 9.5 per cent increase compared to the same period of 2013 (608,001 tonnes) according to preliminary figures submitted by the Chilean Under-Secretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca).
A comparison of results itemized by species shows a 24.1 per cent increase in Atlantic salmon harvests, from 398,762 tonnes to 494,923 tonnes; a 9.5 per cent decrease in rainbow trout harvests; and a 30.2 per cent decrease in Coho harvests.
