Salmones Magallanes to invest US$ 25 million in freshwater site
The company expects to produce enough smolts in this facility to satisfy the local demand for smolts in the Region of Magellan. Salmones Magallanes estimates that demand is around 8 million fish per year.
Besides, Oscar Garay, farming manager of Salmones Magallanes, believes that this new freshwater site is going to provide close to 500 direct and indirect jobs in the area.
Salmones Magallanes is producing around 12 000 tonnes of salmonids per year, the local newspaper El Pinguino reports.
