
Salmon harvests increased 35% up to October

A comparison of results itemized by species shows an 55.4 percent increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 212,184 tonnes to 329,730 tonnes; a 16.5 percent increase in the Rainbow trout harvests to 215,080 tonnes; and a 22.0 percent increase in the Coho salmon harvests to 86,582 tonnes.
Regarding local roe production, Chile produced 34.2 million eggs in the tenth month of this year. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 69.3 million up to October 2012, separated in 55.8 per cent of Rainbow trout eggs and 44.2 per cent of Atlantic salmon eggs.
