
Salmon harvests decreased 56% as of July
A comparison of results itemized by specie shows a 65% decrease in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 151,310 tonnes to 53,027 tonnes; a 35% drop in the Rainbow trout harvests down to 63,372 tonnes; and a 72% decrease in the Coho salmon harvests down to 13,849 tonnes.
Local roe production totalized 1,508 million units as of July 2010: 52.8% of Atlantic salmon eggs, 31% of Coho salmon eggs, 15.9% of Rainbow trout eggs and 0.2% of King salmon eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 73.1 million, separated in 31.8% of Atlantic salmon eggs and 68.2% of Rainbow trout eggs.
