
Salmon harvests decreased 2% up to October
A comparison of results itemized by specie shows a 51.2% increase in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 97,845 tonnes to 147,928 tonnes; a -40.7% decrease in the Rainbow trout harvests to 103.191 tonnes; and a 38.0% increase in the Coho salmon harvests to 53,683 tonnes.
Regarding local roe production, Chile counts with an inventory stock of 126.7 million eggs up to October 2011: 63.7% of Atlantic salmon eggs, 34.0% of Rainbow trout eggs and 2.3% of Coho salmon eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 87.5 million up to October, separated in 55.1% of Rainbow trout eggs and 44.9 % of Atlantic salmon eggs.
