Salmon firm won’t rest on laurels
The company’s full 2014 report, which was published today, reveals that net operating revenues of £125.9m were the highest in the company’s history and a whopping 53% higher than 2013.
Total harvest volumes were 30,183 tonnes, while exports to 23 countries accounted for 42% of revenue. Meanwhile new consents granted in 2014 are likely to increase production figures considerably.
Anderson observes: “These results come from the hard work we have put into building strong and sustainable operations, while reaching out to the world to sell our premium quality salmon.
“We invested £9.1m of capital expenditure in developing our sites to increase capacity, flexibility, efficiency and to strengthen our focus on balanced production together with innovative and sustainable approaches to issues such as health management.
“Additional consents at three sites on Lewis, Skye and Mull resulted in an extra 2,400 tonnes which together with the new consents [on the island of Harris, which will be stocked for the first time this year] will result in an extra 6,600 tonnes in total, while expansion of other land based sites has allowed us to diversify our services, such as on-site filleting for customers.
“We are planning to develop our facilities in Argyll & Bute which enables our strategic approach for growth. Our expectation is that this will expand our capacity at a key time for the business. Our target is to provide an enhanced range of products for our customers, whilst sustaining our throughput of high quality salmon. It will also provide additional employment in rural communities in one of our heartlands.
“2014 was the most successful in our company’s history, and I would like to thank all our staff for their hard work. I’m proud of what we have achieved. However, I’m even more excited about what the future holds,” he concludes.
