Roe imports decrease in Chile

According to a report recently published by the National Fisheries Service (Sernapesca), Chile imported 31.1 million Rainbow trout eggs in the first four months of this year which represent a 26.51 percent decrease compared to the 42.3 million eggs imported in the same period of the previous year.

Likewise, the country imported 20.3 million Atlantic salmon eggs up to April 2012, representing a 20.83 percent increase compared to the 16.8 million eggs imported in the same months of 2011.

Regarding the supplier countries of those eggs, roe imports came from Denmark, Iceland and Australia in the first four months of 2011, while just the two first of those countries have exported eggs to Chile this year.
