According to the financial journal Diario Financiero, this concern is mainly based on the premise that close to 80% of the Atlantic salmon production in Chile is expected to be harvested in the Aysén region this year. Meanwhile, the chairman of the Chilean Salmon Industry Association, César Barros, commented that to address this growth, they require processing plants, ports, bridges and roads, as well as laboratories.

Allegedly, this lack of infrastructure could imply the transportation of fish to the 10th Region as a way to solve this situation with a subsequently sanitary risk.

The Undersecretary of Fisheries, Pablo Galilea, stated that there are not only private but also public investments planned for Aysén. Besides, he said that there is a roundtable already analyzing this problem and looking for solutions.
