May day for SSF
The workboat, called the Keira May, was part of a two-craft deal, worth £3.4, between SSF and Macduff Shipyards in Aberdeenshire.
Macduff has already delivered three 170 tonne barges to Scottish Sea Farms, with two landing crafts also being built at the yard. Another barge is due to be delivered to Orkney in August.
The Keira May is 14.95 metres long and 5.6 metres wide and is capable of carrying 21 tonnes of deck cargo. It has an engine capacity of 236kw.
Jim Gallagher, Managing Director of Scottish Sea Farms, commented: “This contract with Macduff is almost complete and is part of a huge investment programme, as we continue to develop new and existing sites to meet the growing demand for our quality salmon, both here and abroad. This investment is part of our commitment to putting something back into the Scottish economy wherever possible and supporting Scottish suppliers whenever we can.”
