2-300 jobs to be created at Rosyth salmon plant
The 150,000 sq feet premises main focus will be smoked and value-added salmon products that will be sold in the UK and also overseas, says Geoff Cormack, head of export for Meridian Salmon.
“In the first face we are looking at 2-300 people working on site," Cormack reveals.
“Timing-wise we are looking at the second half of next year,” he adds.
Cormack says they are currently in the process of modifying the premises, which will become the world's most advanced salmon processing plant.
"With great transport links and a quality workforce, Rosyth was a natural choice for Meridian.
"We’re very excited about our new plans...” the company says in a statement.
Morpol, the world leading salmon processor, last year entered the UK salmon processor, last year entered the UK salmon farming industry, which can provide around 30 percent of its salmon raw materials.
