Carlos Arenas, chief executive of aquaculture supplier ScaleAQ Chile, has decided to step down after six years in the role and 19 with the company.
“We owe Carlos a great deal of appreciation,” said ScaleAQ Group chief executive Audun Sivertsen in a press release.
“He has been a passionate advocate for the importance of robust technology in the aquaculture industry. Thanks to his dedication, Arenas has earned a strong reputation within ScaleAQ Chile.”
Arenas said: “After 19 years of leading the company, I have decided it is time to pass the baton to new leadership that can take the company to the next level. It has been a true privilege to lead our talented and dedicated team throughout this journey. Now, I look forward to stepping aside and enjoying more time with my family in the years to come.”

Although stepping down as CEO, Arenas will continue contributing to the company as a senior consultant until his retirement.
Interim CEO
Ben Øksnes, managing director of ScaleAQ CAS (closed aquaculture systems), has been appointed interim CEO of ScaleAQ Chile until a permanent replacement is recruited.
In addition to long experience as a fish farmer, Øknes has previously lived in Chile and worked for Mowi Chile.
ScaleAQ Chile currently employs around 200 people.
“Our employees in Chile are highly dedicated. I look forward to getting to know the entire organisation even better,” said Øksnes. “We have a clear ambition to grow, and above all, to remain the preferred supplier to the aquaculture industry in Chile. We will continue to offer the best technology available, while further strengthening our service and support offerings.”
