New MD appointed for BioMar UK
Aquafeed producer BioMar has named Donald MacDonald as the new managing director of its UK operation, BioMar Ltd.
MacDonald will join the company in early September from food ingredients company Macphie UK, where he is operations director.
“Donald brings strong commercial leadership and a proven record in building customer relationships and delivering value in food manufacturing and aquaculture,” BioMar wrote in a press release.
“With broad senior leadership experience, Donald is passionate about understanding customer needs and forging long-term partnerships - qualities central to BioMar’s collaborative and innovative ethos.”

Prior to joining Macphie three years ago, MacDonald spent nearly four years as operations director of the Scottish Salmon Company (now Bakkafrost Scotland), and also spent just over a year as head of supply chain at Marine Harvest (now Mowi) in Rosyth in 2014-15.
Before that he spent a decade in managerial roles at food and drink supplier Bakkavor (now part of Greencore).
At Bakkavor Group, he led the commercial partnership with Marks & Spencer, overseeing the commercial and supply chain process and building strong, sustainable relationships, wrote BioMar.
Paddy Campbell, vice president of BioMar’s salmon division, said: “Donald’s customer-centric approach and hands-on leadership make him an excellent choice to lead BioMar UK. His appointment marks an exciting new chapter as we further strengthen our customer partnerships and support aquaculture growth in Scotland.”
