And though he is a familiar face in the Scottish salmon industry, Denton is one of the less well-known names on a prestigious list that includes Olympic gold medallists Amy Williams, Nicola Adams and Anthony Joshua, astronaut Helen Sharman, and Oscar-winning actors Gary Oldman and Olivia Colman.

He also shares billing with Gruffalo author Julia Donaldson, painter Jack Vettriano, TV physicist Professor Brian Cox, pop stars Florence Welch and Paloma Faith, England cricket captain Joe Root, DJ Calvin Harris, and Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas.

‘Values to celebrate’

Scots tycoon Sir Tom Hunter and Dragon’s Den investor Peter Jones are also in the 100.

The BA 100 has been published to mark the airline’s centenary.

“They are the people who represent the values we want to celebrate and make Britain the creative, open-minded, pioneering and welcoming place it is today,” says the airline on its website.

‘Somewhat of a rock star’

“The BA 100 represent the best of business, environment, fashion, film and entertainment, food and drink, music, art and design, philanthropy, science and technology, and sport.”

Describing Denton, the airline says: “Somewhat of a rock star in the Scottish food industry, entrepreneur Alban has held director-level positions at Warburtons and Kettle Produce. Now, as managing director of Loch Duart – which counts chefs Raymond Blanc and Rick Stein as fans – he is setting the standards for sustainability in the salmon farming business.”

Denton said: “The BA100 is a wonderful  group to be part of and it’s especially fitting as Loch Duart is now celebrating its 20th year in business. On behalf of all the Loch Duart team I’d like to wish BA a very happy birthday.”

Loch Duart harvests around 5,000 tonnes of salmon a year in Sutherland and the Hebrides and exports much of its volume.
