Ace Aquatec makes key hire as it pushes to expand in Chile
Scotland-headquartered fish farming technology developer Ace Aquatec has appointed Sebastián Uribe as digital operations lead in Latin America.
Ace Aquatec said that Uribe, who will be based in Puerto Varas, Chile, brings more than a decade of aquaculture experience, starting his career as a farm technician and later becoming an industrial engineer. His experience spans operations in production centres, production management, feeding and nutrition, and applied technologies.
Most recently, he served as head of bio-estimation and new technologies at Chile’s second-largest Atlantic salmon farmer Multi X, where he led projects focused on feeding, bio-estimation, and operational optimisation.
He previously spent eight years as a site manager with Multi X, overseeing Atlantic salmon farming operations in the Los Lagos and Aysén regions. He began his career at salmon giant AquaChile.
Growing demand
In his new role at Ace Aquatec, Uribe will lead the scaling of the company’s digital operations across the region, supporting what the company says is growing customer demand for its award-winning A-Biomass and A-Harvestcam products. His remit is to drive customer adoption, scale delivery capabilities and maximise the operational and commercial value Ace Aquatec’s digital solutions deliver for producers.
“I’m excited to join Ace Aquatec at a time when digital technology is playing an increasingly important role in how the aquaculture industry improves efficiency, performance and decision-making,” Uribe said in a press release.
“Having worked across both farm operations and technology projects, I understand the importance of solutions that work in real production environments and deliver tangible value for producers.”
Invaluable expertise
Gonzalo Boehmwald, Ace Aquatec’s general manager for Latin America, said: “Sebastián joins Ace Aquatec at an important stage in the growth of our digital business in Latin America. As demand for A-Biomass and A-Harvestcam continues to grow, his combination of hands-on farming experience and expertise in applied technology will be invaluable.
“He understands first-hand the operational challenges our customers face and what it takes for technology to deliver meaningful results on the farm. His appointment strengthens our ability to scale our digital offering and deliver even greater operational and commercial value for producers across the region.”
