Odin wages war on lice
The former supply ship has been upgraded with new wheelhouse and modern facilities. Only the hull remains of the original ship. Moen Marin’s shipyard provided new, modern superstructures, with new cabins, new galley and a more spacious wheelhouse. “We now have a modern boat, with good living and working conditions for employees,” says AQS’s CEO, Ove Løfsnæs. The 36 metre vessel arrived recently from the yard, and has already started work on delousing with hydrogen peroxide – it is specially equipped for bath treatments for farmed salmon, with space for seven containers of hydrogen peroxide. The boat has a new dosage container, and it also has its own workplace for an ROV operator. “We bought AQS Odin in 2012 as a general service boat for aquaculture, but particularly we had delousing in mind. We have developed both the method and the boat, and it now ranks as a top modern service boat. The engines were replaced four years ago, and only the hull is unchanged from the original,” says Ove Løfsnæs.
