
Salmon exports leap 28%
Norway exported NOK 27.9 billion (£2.55 billion) worth of salmon in the first six months of the year – an increase of 28 per cent when measured against the first six months of 2015.
According to the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC), the average price for fresh whole Norwegian salmon in June was NOK 65.43 (£5.98) per kg versus NOK 40.85 (£3.73) per kg last June.
More recently, according to the latest information from Akvafakta, the average price of fresh HOG salmon was NOK 67.47 (£6.16) per kg in week 25, down from NOK 69.59 (£6.36) per kg the week before.
Meanwhile the NSC reports that the country’s trout exports were worth NOK 1.9 billion (£170m) in the first six months – an increase of 103 per cent versus the first six months of last year. NOK 348 million (£31.8m) of trout was exported in June – an increase of 79 per cent compared with June of last year. The largest purchasers of trout from Norway were Belarus and Japan.
