Scottish Sea Farms director nominated as SalMar chairman
The chairman of salmon farmer Scottish Sea Farms, Leif Inge Nordhammer, has been put forward for the same role at one of its two Norwegian owners, SalMar.
The move by SalMar’s nomination committee follows a decision by current SalMar chair Atle Eide that he will not apply for re-election.
In a press release, SalMar said that in its search for new candidates, the nomination committee has emphasised the interests of the shareholder community and the company’s need for competence, experience and capacity.

“After a thorough assessment, the committee has come to a recommendation where Leif Inge Nordhammer replaces Atle Eide as chairman of the board,” said committee chairman Bjørn Wiggen.
Nordhammer was previously chief executive of SalMar from 1996 to 2016, with a hiatus from 2011 to 2014.
Today he works in his investment company LIN AS and is board member of Kverva AS, the investment vehicle of SalMar majority owner Gustav Witzøe.
Decision at AGM
Nordhammer chairs both Scottish Sea Farms Ltd and the board of its holding company, Norskott Havbruk, in which SalMar and fellow Norwegian salmon farmer Lerøy have 50% holdings.
The nomination committee’s recommendation will be up for approval at SalMar’s annual general meeting on June 8.
